Foundation Magics

The magics of this world are built on three main paths, that of pure magic, that of blood magic, and that of the protective magics. For anyone hoping to begin a career in spell caster, a rudimentary knowledge of 'pure magic' must be understood and is a pre-requirement for the other branches.

As you move further down each branch of the tree, more difficult and more powerful spells become available, often with high intelligence or wisdom requirements. For any mage planning on furthering himself in the arcane arts, a high wisdom and intelligence is essential. The path of a mage is never easy, requiring a considerable amount of study, often at the cost of his or her physical capability.

Over the next few pages, we will go into a little more detail about the art of spell casting, some of the spells available and the various foundations.

Eight steps to successfully casting a spell:

Understand the goals of your magic

• Plan your visualisation and wording

• Choose your catalysts (eg herbs, stones, candles etc) and begin to empower them

• Ground, and centre the mana

• Raise the magical energy

• Perform the gesturial and verbal components

• Release the magical energy towards the goal

• End your spell and ground the excess mana
