The First's Perspective

I don't even remember how it all started. Not really. Some things blur together more than others. Some days things start to clear and it all begins to come together. But it never lasts. It gets hard trying to maintain this image of clarity. There's what I've been told, there's the rumors that go flying round, there's the stuff that haunts my dreams. And between all three, trying to draw together enough sanity to write a narrative of events.

Yarsin started it. Not me. It drew the first blood. Before then, I was an innocent citizen happily muddling my way through life. It was like an old rabid dog, in deathly need of being put out of it's misery. Infecting all those that came into contact with it. I could even feel it beginning to taint my own.

I was not the only one who could see it, there were others. But we were all powerless to do anything. There were those that tried. But they did little more than scratch the surface. Swatted a side, like a fly. My guardian was one of these. Him and his rag-tag bunch of rebels.

The instrument came easily into my hands. I think it was a gift from the Gods. Though which, I could never be certain. Luck doesn't happen like that. Not to me.

It was not just about purging Aagos of Yarsin. It was about proving I could do it. Arrogant? Yes. Some times. The planning went on for a good six months. Gathering interested parties - for it could never be done alone. Removing a few key parties from jail. That in itself was a joy. Beating the system. Their was no question as to the Second. Though my biggest mistake was in trusting the Third. He always over exageratted the extent of his ability with wielding mana force. And I should of realised. Certainly before that fatal moment.

When you go take a glass handle from another, and your fingers just fall shy of grasping it. And the world seems to move in slow motion as it falls to the ground. Shattering into million pieces. That was what it was like. Constantly trying to weave the mana, covering the gaping holes that had started to appear. Missing one. Just one.
